CONTEST
Nashville Song Search

Here are some music related links that
are frequently used by Doug Shaw.

These offer useful advice, tools, and
support for the average songwriter.

Songwriters Guild of America
The largest, oldest and most experienced songwriters' association.
Membership fees are similar to other song writing organizations, but
fees for music industry workshops are either cheap or free. They offer
too much to list it in one paragraph... you need to visit their site.

Marc-Alan Barnette
Call this man when you're ready to take your "game" to a whole
new level. He is energetic, focused, and informative, providing
helpful tips on song writing and live performance techniques.

Nashville Muse
A good networking site that lists events that are important to the
songwriter, composer, singer, or musician who lives in the Nashville
area. Members recieve weekly e-mail updates, and Doak puts on
one of the best monthly get-togethers in Nashville.

SYNTH ZONE
A fantastic link-site for people who need synths, MIDI gear, samples,
soundfonts, and much more. No membership, obligations, or spam.
You might want to bookmark this one in your browser!

Hammer Sound
Although Thomas Hammer offers a variety of software and advice,
this site is noted as being one of the best collections of free soundfonts.
All of the SF2 files are rated by people who have used them, and
the file descriptions tend to be very detailed and helpful.

Miles PC Consulting
Although it's not music specific, Rob's site offers advice, assistance,
and other input (no pun intended) to computer users... which can be
useful to many writers and composers in this new computer age.

Studio-Central
A forum for discussing hardware (microphones, amps, mixers, monitors,
sound cards, interfaces, etc.) software (samplers, sequencers, etc.) and music
(recording, editing, processing, releasing, etc.)... as well as a place to rant.

Tunesmith
One of several sites that allow you to post your lyrics and music so they
can be critiqued by fellow writers and composers. Since it is based in
Nashville, many of the members write Country and Christian music,
but they also write and compose other styles of music
.

The Muse's Muse
Another song writing message board, with similar opportunities to
post your lyrics and music for feedback. The members of this site
tend to be more Pop and Rock oriented, but they also write and
review various styles of lyrics, melodies, and completed songs.

Just Plain Folks
A similar songwriter site. They have several chapters around the
country, which also organize workshops in their regions, including
Nashville. Many members specialize in writing and performing Folk
music, but the styles and genres of their members also varies.
